South Africa - Plettenberg Bay

South Africa - Plettenberg Bay

Days 5

Here comes the road trip! 5hrs and 45min to Plettenberg Bay from Cape Town... As we started our drive, I looked at the map and saw the Cheetah Outreach. This is a preservation center for cheetahs & other predators, with education programs & animal encounters. Of course we had to do it!

We continued on and pushed through to Plettenberg Bay. Arriving late, we stayed at Beacon Island Resort. After arriving so late we had no idea where exactly we were but waking up in the morning and looking outside it was gorgeous! Nestled right on a cove with ocean views all around, it was refreshing. Our next adventure was only a quarter mile down the road.

Days 6-7

The Old Rectory is part of the Rare Earth Collection. Located in the heart of Plettenberg Bay, one of South Africa’s most loved coastal towns, The Old Rectory is an immaculately restored national monument built in 1777 and reimagined into an intimate boutique hotel. With only 18 luxury suites and only a short stroll from the beach, you can expect a personal, world-class experience with plenty to see and do including a spa, in-house restaurant and sparkling pool.

We were greeted by Claudene, the reservations manager. She gave us a tour around the property, explaining the history behind the boutique hotel. The staff was impeccably trained, each paid notice to detail and ensured our stay a wonderful one. The chefs catered our meals to our dietary restrictions, which I couldn't have been more grateful! The chef even prepared a beach picnic for us as well, we couldn't have been more catered to.

Picnic on the beach

The spa was like a private sanctuary. We scheduled a couples spa treatment. You enter the steam shower and apply an exfoliation and a body mask. After 20 minutes, we moved into a massage room and received a couples massage. It was so tranquil and one of the best massages I've ever had! After the massage, they greeted us in the Spa lobby with champagne and followed with breakfast by the pool!

After our wonderful relaxation day, Claudene had presented us with some activities to do in the area. She had mentioned an Elephant Sanctuary where you can interact with elephants. Our guide was very knowledgable and even took a moment to tell us about how these elephants have been saved from labor workers, circuses etc.

South Africa - Downtown Cape/Camps Bay

Days 3-4:

After exploring southern Cape Town, we made our way to downtown Cape. We stayed at Cape Milner, a boutique modern hotel conveniently located close to the V&A Waterfront, Camps Bay and Table Mountain. From the pool you can see Table Mountain!

After check in, we decided to venture to out to Table Mountain. We took a cable car up, it rotates to give you a 360º view of Cape Town. Once off the cable car, the views were just breath taking. No matter where you stand there's a gorgeous view. TIP: Go at sundown!

For dinner we ate at Bocca, an upscale Italian Pizzeria. I got a little thirsty and wanted to try out a bar, and went to Orphanage Cocktail Emporium. This is a hip bar with flaming (literally on fire) drinks and a DJ spinning euro electro tracks.

The next day we explored downtown Cape Town. Check out the V&A Waterfront where there is a very large shopping center. The marina was beautiful with all the sailboats. I got a little hungry and was recommended to take in the views at Silo Hotel's rooftop restaurant. They have a yummy charcuterie and I even saw dolphins swimming around!

We overheard the couple next to us talk about how amazing Camps Bay was, so we scooted our way over there. The salt air smelled magnificent and the waves were insane! It was almost sundown, we stopped in at Zenzero for a fabulous glass of wine. For dinner we headed to Paranga for sushi and an Ostrich steak. Topped the night off at Umi for a chocolate dessert. (All 3 places are in the same building and owned by the same company. AMAZING)

South Africa - Constantia/Cape Point

WE MADE IT!

After 30 hours of travel, we arrived in Cape Town!

Days 1-2: The Wild Collective put together an amazing 10 day itinerary! The first stop on the itinerary was Constantia. Constantia Valley is a super nice, low-key suburb of Cape Town. Located on the South side of Cape Town, it's conveniently located close to Cape Point, Boulder Beach and most importantly, it's wine country! Nova Constantia Boutique Residence was kind enough to host us. The General Manager greeted us and had already taken the liberty of making a dinner reservations at Bistro Sixteen82 on a vineyard. After a long travel, this guidance and forethought was spot on. The entire staff at Nova Constantia are very friendly and beyond accommodating.

Bistro Sixteen82 is a must. Delicious tapas overlooking the rolling hills full of grape vines is beautiful. It's located on the Steenberg Farm.

We made our way down to Boulder Beach to see the South African Penguins and kept going down the coast to Cape Point. Cape Point has breathtaking panoramic views. We even saw an Ostrich on our hike!

Our road trip continued to Cape Point Vineyards (yes we love our wine tastings!)

Lastly, We had to try the Chefs tasting menu at Buitenverwachting. YUM! The menu, consisting of retro cuisine, is divided into four categories, Light & Easy, Rustic Affairs, Indulge and Desserts, catering for relaxed and deli style lunches / dinners, but also offering a limited selection of fine dining dishes.

Hotel Accommodation: Nova Constantia

Restaurants: BistroSixteen82 - Steenberg Farm, Buitenverwatching

Activities: Steenberg Farm Wine Tasting, Boulder Beach Penguins, Cape Point, Cape Point Vineyards, Buitenverwatching Farm.

Suggestions: RENT A CAR! We wouldn't have been able to do a majority of these activities if we didn't have a car. WIFI is limited (available but slow), I suggest buying a mobile hotspot to use for navigating. AT&T and Verizon are not covered under the travel pass in South Africa.

South Africa (almost)

I've had some wonderful opportunities to travel, and this time it’s taking me to South Africa to collaborate with The Wild Collective! (Lions, and tigers and bears, oh my! Okay, maybe not the bears) The Wild Collective is a digital influencer agency that curate luxury travel and lifestyle collaborations. Pretty cool, huh?

So, trying to plan all of this is a process! Dates are crucial because it all depends on availability of hotels (The Wild Collective coordinates this part for you), how many nights, and flights. Trying to choose a flight that’s budget friendly and one that will get you there in the shortest time possible might be the hardest.

We ended up flying Turkish Airlines. It’s a 9hr flight from Boston to Istanbul. We made sure our checked luggage was under 20kg (44lbs) and our carryon was under 8kg (17lb). We ended up getting to Boston Logan Airport 3hrs early which was fine, our flight was leaving at 11:35pm and we had time to grab dinner. Anyways we boarded, the economy seats weren’t too shabby, I made sure to remove everything from the front pockets so my knees had a little more wiggle room. I’d tell you how the free meals were but I was 2 melatonin in and didn’t wake up for dinner or breakfast. When we landed the little girl behind me ended up throwing up, I’ll just take that as a good omen!

And here we are, waiting in the Istanbul airport for 9hrs until our next flight to Cape Town.

To be continued...

Hello Seattle!

Hello Seattle!

Well hello Seattle!

I haven't seen you in quite sometime, but I'm lucky enough to visit for the weekend. First stop, of course was the Pike Market Place. From throwing fish, freshly picked flowers, and turkey legs this place is a one stop shop. We heard from a friend that Piroshky, Piroshky was a certain place to try out Russian pastries, and let me tell you.... YUMM!!!

After a 6hr flight, stopping at Old Stove Brewery was just what the doctor ordered. The blonde ale is a must try!

Next stop to Fort Casey, WA!

Chebeague Island Inn

Chebeague Island Inn

This summer has been one of the busiest for me. Finding time for that romantic date that is budget friendly with a romantic view is a challenge. Chebeague Island Inn has become one of my favorite spots. Its 20 minutes north of Portland, Maine. You can either take a ferry right from Portland or from Yarmouth, which means you can either stay for a night, or just go out for dinner.

Chebeague is the most charming place I have ever seen. The front porch is known for its beautiful sunsets and amazing cocktails. The staff are welcoming and professional. The lawn is freshly manicured, the flowers surrounding the Inn are bright and vibrant.

The food and cocktails are more than up to par. Their handcrafted cocktails are a perfect way to sit back, relax, and take in the views. The food is freshly prepared, and are flavorful, filling, and still light on the palate!

Glam Seamless Invisitape Hair Extensions

Glam Seamless Invisitape Hair Extensions

Just received my Glam Seamless Invisitape Hair Extensions. I'm so excited because I've been searching for tape extensions that are quality but won't break the bank. The tabs aren't for me because I tend to put my hair up a lot. These Invisitapes are true to their name! I used color 9/613 and the whole installation process took less than 20 minute. I have medium to thick hair so I used 5 packs, the recommended use is 3-5 packs. Each pack comes with 10 Invisitapes. Now I have full thick glamorous hair!

Island Girl

Settling into vacation life pretty well, I'd say. Bikinis and braids are an everyday go-to here, I want to be an island girl🏖.

Every day is blue skies and crystal clear water. Stingrays literally come right up to the beach and swim right in front of you! It was amazing. The Gansevoort is located right on Grace Bay, within a 5 minute walk down the beach the reef is directly in front of you. I didn't even know I liked snorkeling until I swam out and saw the beautiful colors of the fish and the reef! As soon as you walk out theres a restaurant called Somewhere Cafe thats situated on the beach, perfect for an afternoon cocktail.

Beach/Suits/Suites

Beach life suits me and so does Helen Jon .

I stumbled upon Helen Jon swimwear when I was desperately searching for a onepiece suit that had some support (for the girls). A perfect swim line for resort wear!

As soon as we landed we were treated by our driver and escorted to the hotel 15 mins away from the airport. The Gansevoort staff greeted us all smiles and sat us down by the pool to check us in with some fresh Rum Punch! By the time we got up to our ocean front suite, our bags were waiting for us. Did not take long to change into our swimsuits and head down to the beach cabana and finally relax!

Travel Wrapped

Travel wrapped and ready to go, on my way to Turks and Caicos 🏖🏝🐬

It has been long overdue for a vacation that literally consists of sitting on a beach and doing nothing. The Gansevoort Turks and Caicos seemed like the right place to do it. I also chose this place because the flights were insanely cheap from Portland, ME $350 roundtrip!

MDW Cincinnati Style

Memorial Day weekend kicks off here in Cincinnati! Beautiful rose gardens and church bells ringing, cheers to the weekend!

This is my first time here in Cincinnati! What a beautiful place to be on a holiday weekend. Our first stop was to meet up with some friends at Rhinegeist Brewery. So this place if officially awesome! Its an old warehouse converted into a brewery. Inside is open with two bars and filled with corn hole platforms. Next you walk up a flight of stairs (which I suggest not wearing heels) to the amazing rooftop deck with views of the city!

Spring has sprung in Portland Maine

Even through the transition from winter to spring, Portland Maine is still vibrant with its colors from the wharf. Still in need of a heavier jacket to block the wind coming off the coast!

There are some days I feel like I do not know my own city! I sleep here, I eat here, I walk around but do I notice all that the city has to offer? No! Now, this is where hash tagging comes in handy. Lately my new this is to #portlandmaine and see what photos come up. I've discovered so many new restaurants and bars just in a 5 block radius of my apartment. If you're looking to venture out here are some places I suggest going:
